A late period or an unexpected feeling can leave you wondering where you stand. The first step toward an answer is a pregnancy test.
At Horizon, pregnancy testing is free, confidential, and available without any requirements. Knowing for sure is the starting point for whatever comes next, and you don’t have to face that moment alone.
Am I Really Pregnant?
If you’ve taken a home test, you might still be unsure, and that’s understandable. Home tests can be wrong, especially when taken too early or not exactly as directed.
A test at our center uses a medical-grade process and is read by trained staff, so you get a clear, reliable answer. If your result is positive, you may qualify for a free ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy and see how far along you are.
When to Take a Pregnancy Test
Timing affects how accurate a test will be. Pregnancy tests work by detecting the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) your body produces after conception. Because hCG levels increase over time, testing too early can result in a false negative.
The most reliable results usually come after a missed period. For the greatest accuracy, it’s also best to take the test first thing in the morning, when your urine is most concentrated and hCG levels are easiest to detect. According to the Cleveland Clinic, testing too early can show a negative even when you are pregnant, which is one reason a missed or late period is a good signal to test. If you’re unsure about your timing or results, our staff can talk it through with you.
